Book Review

 Hello readers for the last couple of weeks we have been working on finishing our novel study book I liked the book my teacher chose for me because I like learning about cars. The book was called slide the corner and it was about a kid who wanted to drive rally cars but his parents didn't agree with what they said because they were really smart.

Slide The Corner: Nobody selected the novel because our teacher did but she chose the book for us because we haven't read it before. The book was good it gave me ideas about cars and if I wanted to drive a rally car and im sure if you had read it you would enjoy reading it. My favourite part was when he was racing it put my hopes up because I wanted him to win. The characters were Brad, Molly, Greg, Dad, Mum. I recommend this book to any age because its about cars and if kids want to learn about cars this would be the best book for them.  I rate this book a 5/5 because it is a good book and I think other people would enjoy reading it.

Do Now Week 8

 Should Matariki be a public holiday? I agree that Matariki should be a school holiday because I think everyone should celebrate the Maori language. The reason I think this would be good is because everyone who is Maori should be able to celebrate there language and if they couldn't do that then they wouldn't have any time to have a look at the stars.For the people who can't look at the stars it would be hard because they like there Maori language. This is my opinion on what everyone should be able to look at stars because it is Matariki.

Do Now Week 8

 Is English the most important subject in school? I don't think that English is the most important because if we want to get a job we should do every subject.If we didn't do any other subject then we wouldn't get a good job but if we only done one subject we wouldn't know anything about angles if we wanted a building job. But if we did have a good job then we would get better and then you could become the best worker. And then you could start making more money. Every year people get a pay rise which mean you will start to earn more money over time.

Evaporation

Hello readers for the last couple of weeks we have been doing science we have been doing some experiments. 3 things were going to learn about today were evaporating, Condensing, Distillation we will be learning about the topic and then we will do an experiment we didn't do one today because it is meant to take a whole hour. What is evaporation? Evaporating is when a substance gets heated up and it turns from liquid gas. Condensing is liquid cooling it down.. Distillation Experiment Aim Use distillation to separate out the dissolved sugars in coke, coke zero/diet, from the liquid. Hypothesis I think the normal coke will have more sugar because I think it has more sugar already and then i think that it will turn like water. 

Method 

1. Heat up 50ML of coke on a Bunsen burner 

2. Trap gas in tube

3. Condense gas using ice

Chromatography

Hello readers today we started working on chromatography we had a reviler working with us today pigments are a substance they gives colour to things. They are used to give colour to all sorts of thing like felts, Paint, Fabric, Animals, Plants Chromatography is a process for separating components of a mixture. To get the process started, the mixture is dissolved in a substance called the mobile phase, which carries it through a second substance called the stationary phase. To separate the two different pigments from in to use chromatography. The Hypothesis is what you thing will happen to you paper? I think that it will start to change colour and then it will stop in the end. The equipment you will need is a felt tip pen, Filter paper strips, test tube, Measuring cylinder,pencil.

PB4L

 Hello everyone today we started working on a sheet called the PB4L it's a reflection sheet on how we could improve our behaviour and we had to highlight some things that we do well and some we don't do well. I always want to be learning ready and stay on task even if my friends if they are making bad decisions. I want to do my personal best even if I don't know what to do. I want to have a positive attitude when the teacher is talking to me and not just walk away when they are talking. I want to always use manners by not swearing and when we are having kai time. We had to chose one indicator. I chose to stay focused in each class I chose this one because I want to stay on the right activities and do the right thing. I can work well with my friends but sometimes we get a bit chatty. After we had to chose two more that weren't highlighted. I chose to encourage other people to do the right thing because If I want to do the right thing then I don't want to be encouraged to do bad thing. And the other one was I want to challenge myself to do the best I can do.

Do Now Week 6

 I agree that everyone in Aotearoa New Zealand should be aloud to vote. I think that everyone in the age over 16 should be able to vote but then some will be silly about who they are going to vote for they might not even have a reason. The reason I think that people over the age of 16 should be able to vote because some will make some good decision and have a reason to vote for the person they want but some won't. If I could vote I would do research about what they have done to help people and if they are negative. So this is why I think that everyone over the age of 16 should be able to vote and I think people would agree with what everyone says.

Women Who Created Change

 Hello readers for the last couple of weeks we have been working on women who created change if we had finished all of our work we had to work on some slides I finished first so we started to do a blog if we had finished everything. Do Now Week 6

Is your name important? I agree that your name is important because some people don't like being called other names. If the teacher wanted to say something to you then you wouldn't be able to talk to them unless you tap their shoulder. If I wanted to say something to my friend I wouldn't just say come here I would say there name is Zac. So this is why I agree that names are important because I don't think that you friends would like being called something else because it might make them upset or even angry but if they had a name then they would be happy and they wont be sad.

STEM

 Hello readers for the last couple of weeks we have been doing maths but today we started working on STEM if you didn't know what it means it stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Maths. I was working Ashton and Rocki we worked well because first we done it wrongs but then the second time we got it correct. If the paper was smaller then it still would have enough so everyone in our team would be able to fit. But if we had a bigger it would be easier. The cuts in the paper we done were small. Physical fitness refer to the capacity of an athlete to meet the varied physical demands of their sport without reducing the athlete to a fatigued state, The components of physical fitness are (Davis 2000) Body composition, Endurance, Flexibility, Strength, Speed.  

Mother of Teresa

Hello readers for the last couple of weeks we have been doing essays and some other things today we started working on Mother Teresa she was known by helping people in need like the poor and people who needed homes to stay at. Something I learned about Mother Teresa was that she would always help someone even if she didn't know them. This helped the poor people eat and stay somewhere. Thesis Statement

Hello everyone today we were doing a thesis statement about our self. Likes to sleep and play video games I like to do some exercise I like hanging out with my family. Did you know that I like working on cars with my family they like doing the same things as me. I like my family because they are always there if I need them. I like school because I like hanging out with all of my friends. I like playing sport like rugby, Running. Did you know that Jesse likes to hang out with his friends and play sport.

Do Now Week 5

 Is the principal the most important person in the school? I don't agree because I think that the kids are the most important. If something happens to the kids then there parents would be mad that is the reason why I don't think that the principal is the most important one. But if we didn't have a principal then if somethings happens that is bad then they can do something about it.  This is why I think that every school should have a principal because then they can help us if something happend even though there are teachers that can help.

Health

 Hello readers for the last couple of weeks we have been playing games in health we got to play games because we had finished all of our work. Some of the games we played were the Marshmallow challenge, Drawing game, Cup challenge, and the last one was shark infested water I liked this game the most because we had to work as a team. Some of the warm fuzzies I used was good job. I was working at level 4 because I was encouraging my teammates.  The IP skill I was using was communication. Concentration and Dilution

Hello readers for the last couple of weeks we have been doing science we have been doing some experiments today we started to do concentration and dilution today we started working on another experiment. Concentrations means to measure how much solute has been dissolved into the solvent. Dilute means it is weak and concentrated means that it is strongly concentrated. We will be using Potassium Permanganate. I think that it will be clear in the end.

Science: Filtering

 Hello readers for the last couple of weeks we have been doing science today we started to do an experiment filtering is separating things based on there size some things can't be separated if they are the same size if two things are liquid then you cannot separate them if they are dissolved then it will not work. The thing we will be using is copper sulfate, and sodium carbonate. we will be making a mixture and then we are going to be separating it. The things in copper sulfate are Liquid that is light blue and transparent. The equipment you will need is conical flask, stirring rod, 200mL beaker, Funnel, filter paper. I think that it will start to separate from the other part. I think when we add them together it will combine and one will be colour less and one will be blue. These are the steps.

Method: 

1. Pour approximately 50mL of copper sulfate solution into a beaker.

2. Add the same volume of sodium carbonate solution. A reaction will happen, you should see a cloudy blue precipitate form. Called copper carbonate. 

3. Watch demo then fold filter paper to fit inside the funnel

4. Place the funnel with the filter paper inside of it, into the mouth of a conical flask. 

5. Stir the mixture in the beaker, then carefully pour it into the funnel. 

6. Observe what happened. It started to turn clear when we added both in

Comprehension Questions

 Hello readers for the last couple of weeks we have been doing novel studies I am reading a book called slide the corner today we had some comprehension questions this was easy some of the questions were easy but some were hard. Please leave a comment on my blog on what I could do better next time and send some feedback. When Greg meets the Chatterton's it makes him feel happy because they have cars and Greg likes cars. They make him happy because they give him food and Brad teaches Greg about cars. They offered him and job and they let him get into the rally car. When Greg tried to his mum she was happy but then when he went to go and talk to his dad he got angry. I can relate to Greg's problem because sometimes people start to get mad at there parents because they don't get there own way. It makes Greg upset because he wants to be like everyone else. I think William will stick up for Greg because they are good friends this is a good character because I think that everyone should have friends. She changes her mind because she thinks that he can be whatever he wants. I predict that the next part of the  story is going to be about Greg driving a rally car.

NZ Civil Defence

 Hello readers or the last couple of weeks we have had some floods around Christchurch today we had make a poster abut the floods we had to do some tips I was working with Rocki we had to use some websites to get us information.
