Life on Mars Science

Hello readers for the last couple of weeks we have been working on Science I read a story and it was about Mars and then we had to do some questions the story was called Starryteller and the author was Clare Knighton and these are the questions we had to start and this is what I made. Please leave a comment on what I could change or what I could do better.

In your own words, summaries what happens at the Mars Desert Research Center.
The research center is in the desert in Utah and it is a station that people work at and some live there it is kinda like Mars and they have to wear spacesuits and a helmet they live in a thing called a hab and it is where they spend there time in there discovering new things.

What did Haritina find difficult about being at the research center? She found the job difficult because she had to stay for 24/7 and that means that she had to stay there for twenty four hours and she wasn't aloud to leave.
Why? Because she had to work everyday and for 24 hours and was getting difficult.

Mars Desert Research Station: My Mission to (Simulated) Mars | by ...
Why do you think it is important for astronauts to practice in an environment like this before heading into Space? I think it is important to people to practice in space because they might want to go to space and they are going to need experiences so they don't die and they will be safe.

Science Hurumanu

Aim: To look at the causes of climate change and how to prevent it.

As you watch the video answer these questions:
Climate Change

What is our greatest threat in thousands of years?
Storms Heat waves Floods Strong winds

How do we see climate change affecting the globe?

  1.

What is needed to change history
 Stop Fossil fuels
Is climate change a man made distaster?
Yes
Dramatic action must be made in the next 10 years to change it?

Why is our climate changing?
Our world is getting hotter

What is causing the warming trend of the climate?
The Rubbish

What is the main problem?
Fossil Fuels

What are examples of these?

Burning fossil fuels releases what gas?
Carbon Dioxide

How much hotter now is our world?
1 d

What do we call this global warming?

How is this affecting creatures / animals like bats?
It kills them

What percentage of species are near extinction?

How could this effect the world ecosystems?

What global change was seen and recording breaking last year?

How is climate change affecting our weather systems?
1. Earths Ice is melting and it is also breaking
2.
3.

What is another detect of climate change?
Detection has been defined as the process of demonstrating that an observed change is significantly different

What will happen if the ice melts in Antarctica and the Arctic?
We would be dead because it would get to hot

How does this affect people?
Our changing climate will affect our economy, environment

What other things affect oceans change?
More fish will start dying

What does to much heat do to coral?
Rising Ocean Temperatures Can Kill Corals

Why did some industries not want to stop burning fossil fuels?
we have far more oil, coal and gas than we can safely burn

Stop at 23.39

Investigation

You can decide on how you would like to do this investigation. Your presentation could be on the blog, slides, or Powerpoint.

Write a definition, upload an image and list where these fossil fuels are mined.

  1. Coal a dark or brown gas
  2. Oil A sticky gas
  3. Natural Gas a gas used for cooking food

Write a paragraph and upload an image about each of these renewable energy.

  1. Solar denoting energy
  2. Wind Means a moment of air
  3. Waves means a movement in the ocean
  4. Hydro means a power plant

Write a 6 sentence reflection about what you have learnt about Climate Change and how it is going to affect us.

Science

Today we did science and we watched a video. The video was about a department education programme and we watched the video. Here is the link to the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8u4XgAX3QtY&feature=youtu.be

  • What animals keep our jackets warm? Sheep produce wool and then we get warmer clothes.
  • What animal makes our boots waterproof? Cows.
  • Where does the water in our rivers come from? From mountain snow.
  • Why do we need healthy rivers?  So we can swim in them and catch healthy fish.
  • What are some of the good things about mosquitoes? Our native birds feed on them.
  • Why are bees dying? Because insecticides poison them.
  • What do bugs do to our leaves? They eat them.

If you can please send me some feedback on what I could do next time in my blog post.

  • Reduce  Means make a smaller or less in amount degree or amount

  • Reuse means you can reuse the stuff that you can reuse like plastic bags.

  • Recycle means to put your rubbish in the bin and then we can help the animals

  • How much dung would we be in if there were no dung de- composers? 7 feet

  • Who runs this planet?Nature
