Aim:To look at different kitchen ingredients in scones and their effects.

You will each have a role for the first scone, then rotate roles for the next two.

1. Collector - Collects ingredients then writes label
2. Mixer - Mixes ingredients
3. Baker - Rolls mixture into scone shape

When one person in the group is doing their role the others will be writing their blog.

Your group will:
  • Make 3 types of scone.
  • Normal plus 2 others.
  • You will make the scone, shape it on your plate, bring it up and place it on the oven tray with a clearly written label. The label must have Group Name and Scone Type.
Scone types:
  1. No butter
  2. No Baking Powder
  3. No milk
  4. With Lemonade
  5. With Baking Soda

Recipe:

  • 1/2 cup Edmonds standard flour
  • 1 tsp Edmonds baking powder  or 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp butter
  • 1/4 cup milk, approximately or 1/4 cup lemonade.

Chromatography

Rainbow paper

Materials;

1. Cup
2. Filter paper
3. Color
4. Ruler
5. pencil
6. felts

Process:

Step 1: Draw the lines.
Step 2: Get the colors Black, green, red.
Step 3: Put it on the filter paper.
Step 4: Put it in the cup.
Step 5: Put some water in it.
Step 6: And then watch it.

Findings: Write about what happened.

Reflection: What have I learnt from this experiment? That if you put color paper in a cup with water it will make the colors and they separated

Skittles

Aim: To separate colours by using the process of chromatography.

Materials;

1. Cup thing
3. Skittles
4.
5.
6.

Process:

Step 1:
Step 2:
Step 3:
Step 4:
Step 5:
Step 6:

Findings: Write about what happened.

Reflection: What have I learnt from this experiment?

What did the colours do?
Did the colours mix together?
Why or why not?

When we have a Reliever

Today with our reliever I... Was sitting at a table looking for one of the teachers blog and I was sitting with Tj and Josh talking.

When we have guest in our class I should... Be focused and not be talking to other people when the main teacher is in the class

Next time I will... I will do my work and pay attention to what we are supposed to be doing when there is a reliever in the class and when Miss Birtch is in the class.

Salt and Water Experiment

AIM: DESIGN AN EXPERIMENT THAT TESTS THE AMOUNT OF SALT THAT MUST BE IN WATER BEFORE IT WILL NOT FREEZE WHEN LEFT OVERNIGHT IN THE FREEZER.

Image result for salt and water

When we design an experiment there are some important questions that we must answer first. This is part of the planning stage and will help to give us some ideas.

Record these answers on your blog.

The Plan.

Task 1; Read the question carefully and write the answer to these questions.

  1. What do we need to find out? what I would need to do
  2. How will we find it out? I will find out by searching it up on the internet
  3. How will we record what we find? I will record it on my my Chromebook and post it on my blog.
  4. What equipment do we need for the experiment? Salt and Water beakers measuring spoons or cups
  5. How long will it take? About 1 day

The Procedure

Task 2: What are the steps that you will take to make the experiment?

List them in 6 steps.

Step 1;get stuff ready
Step 2:put the salt in
Step 3: and then put the water in
Step 4:add them together
Step 5:
Step 6:

The Process

Task 3: Draw on a piece of A4 paper the 6 steps that you will use to test the amount of salt in water before freezing. When we are making drawings in science  it needs to be labelled clearly, kept tidy and named. Once you have completed the drawing it must be photographed and uploaded to your blog.

In your drawing you will use:
  1. Beakers
  2. Water
  3. Measuring spoons or cups
  4. Salt

Water Filtration Plant

What is filtration?

Filtration is separating solids from liquids by adding a medium through which only the liquid can pass.

Examples are:

  1.  Swimming Pool
  2.  Teabag
  3.  Kidney
  4. coffee plunger/coffee filter

Materials

1.Pebbles
2.Dirty Water
3.Filter Paper
4.Sand
5.Cup
6.Scissor
7.Bottle
8.Funnel
9.Coffee Filter

Process - ( use verbs or doing words in each step )

Step 1

Cut the bottle In half.

Step 2

Put the top half upside down inside the bottle.

STEP 3

Add layers of Filter paper and then add your sand/pebbles.

STEP 4

Get 1 cup of dirty water.

STEP 5

Pour dirty water into the funnel or the bottle.

Measurements

Write a short sentence about the water every 1 minute.
Include 'How much water has filtered through', 'How fast it is dripping through', and 'How clear the water is'.

Conclusion Hi my name is Jesse and I am from Hornby High School this we done science and we done an experiment with. Mr Palmer he show us what would happen if he put dirty water in a cup and it was it was supposed to make the water clear but it didn't for my group.
